My Blog Baptism
I had read a few blogs but never subscribed to any.  I had also seen the term RSS many times but did not know what it meant.  It is amazing the things I am learning in the Educational Media Design and Technology (EMDT) program at Full Sail University.  For my first blog post I had to subscribe to five Real Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds of interest to me.  Here's what I found.

Working the Web for Education - Tom March
http://ozline.com/entry/
Tom March has been a web designer and educational consultant since 1998.  He has worked with several different types of organizations in the past but now works exclusively with education.  The thing that first struck me about this blog was that Tom was introducing many Web 2.0 tools with links to the tools right in the blog.  I am excited to find this blog and look forward to checking out many of the tools talked about in his latest post.

Free Technology for Teachers
http://www.freetech4teachers.com/
Hey, what teacher doesn't get excited when she sees the words Free and For Teachers in the same title.  This site did not disappoint.  Today's post included a great video on motivating students and a list of five free resources for developing typing skills.  Teaching keyboarding skills is a component in one of my basic computer classes.  I will definitely be checking out these free resources and see if they can be useful in that class.  Yesterday's free stuff included information on a site called Free Mapper where you can get PDF and posters of over 700 maps.  This site might be valuable when we talk about gathering demographic data in Entrepreneurship.  I'm two for two with this blog.  It has already been valuable.

Larry Ferlazzo's Website of the Day
This blog has some great links I am excited to check out.  Some of the topics include homework, project-based learning, Waiting for Superman, video editing software, and classroom games.  The topic are all relevant to my classroom and the work I am doing in my masters program.

TED: Ideas Worth Spreading
feed://feeds.feedburner.com/tedtalks_video
TED is a great source for videos.  In fact, I used a TED video in my Entrepreneurship class today that talked about where ideas come from.  All the videos are less than 20 minutes in length and each one I have seen is interesting and thought provoking.  I am excited to find out about the TED RSS feed so I can learn about the lastest posts to TED.

Edutopia
http://www.edutopia.org/
Edutopia is a great site sponsored by the George Lucas Educational Foundation. It has blogs on many topics from technology integration to high school composition.  I have used Edutopia for research and as a resource for my classroom.  I am glad to be subscribed to their RSS feed to keep up on the latest topics of interest.
